Can You Have Too Many?

Can you have too many pairs of handknit socks? I washed my "delicates" earlier this week. The "delicates" included 16 pairs of handknit socks. 13 of them were mine... 3 pairs were Older Son's socks. One of the pairs in my 13 were knit for me by someone else, but that means a full dozen were handknit socks, handknit for me, handknit by me. And let's be clear on something, I didn't have to wash socks. There were still quite a few pairs in my socks drawers.
This is making me wonder if perhaps I'm selfish with my knitting. Or maybe I'm just discerning about my socks? Yeah - we'll go with that...

Okay, you wash your handknit socks as delicates? If I can't toss 'em in the washer and the dryer on any cycle I want, then I won't make socks out of that yarn!

NO you can never have too many handknit socks - I am up to 3 pairs of my own and have no intention of stopping- however mom has a pair and dad and another friend and the girls have 3 and.
I MUST KNIT MORE FOR ME - oh there is another pair just waiting for me to finish. that makes 4. I think I will cast on some Noro sock yarn. HUH

Can you have too many? NO! End of discussion! If you are the one doing the knitting, then knit what you want for whom you want! I only ask that you pass some of the mojo back through the interwebz so that I can get my needles clicking again on a more regular basis....I think you should post a picture of all the lovely socks too!

Nope. Knit what makes you happy, and if you're knitting for you, you know the recipient will appreciate 'em!

I'm probably not the one to ask...I have 17 pairs of my own. And currently have 2 more on the needles for myself.
In short, no. This way you can always wear handknit socks, which are awesome, and only have to launder them every once in a while.
To Alison: I do my "sock laundry" once every 2 weeks (my goal is to be able to go a month without doing sock laundry) . Handwash setting on most times, but every so often I use normal. And I hang them to dry. On the plus side...I have socks that are 2 years old and show very little signs of wear.
